ROLE PURPOSE:
This position provides a range of strategic recordkeeping advisory services to assist its business areas in creating, developing, monitoring and fostering a recordkeeping culture, which demonstrates best practice and complies with Information Management standards.

ROLE SPECIFICS:
The Advisor role reports to the Director

The key challenges of the position are:
• Managing the business classification schemes and retention and disposal schedules
• Assisting business areas with continuous improvement in “recordkeeping culture”
• Assisting with the state-wide education program to a broad cross-section of stakeholders
• Assisting the team with advice relating to a Recordkeeping Compliance Program
• Ensuring that the corporate memories of the departments are preserved

DUTIES:
• Collaborative work on updating the retention and disposal schedules.
• Maintain the business classification scheme/s and provide leadership on content management and classification of information and records.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of recordkeeping strategies, policies, standards and procedures.
• Continually liaise with work groups to provide information on recordkeeping activities and services; and obtain feedback on issues and problems in business areas.
• Conduct reviews of recordkeeping practises and systems to ensure business improvements are identified and implemented.
• Provide training and education to staff on practices and systems used for recordkeeping.
• Participate as a member of the unit in providing quality service to clients.
• Actively participate in performance planning and appraisal through accepting and providing positive and constructive feedback. Undertake training and development opportunities that are identified as necessary to achieve work goals, and gain awareness of corporate responsibilities through the appropriate induction processes and participation in other relevant programs.
• Contribute to a safe and healthy workplace by complying with Workplace Health and Safety legislation, codes of practice, standards and policy and procedures and participating in risk management and corrective action programs.

PAY and BENEFITS:
The salary for this role ranges from $___ to $_ per fortnight dependant upon your experience.

BASIS for ASSESSMENT of MERIT:
The ideal candidate will have
• Knowledge of recordkeeping legislation, principles, systems and practices and their application in a large organisation (in particular business classification schemes, retention and disposal schedules, and security requirements would be well regarded).
• Experience in educating staff and/or an ability to promote the development of recordkeeping competence by sharing knowledge and skills.
• An ability to research and analyse recordkeeping issues, make recommendations and develop a range of practical solutions.
• Well developed interpersonal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and deal tactfully with clients.

Eligibility for appointment

To be eligible for permanent appointment you must provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency. To be eligible for temporary appointment you must provide proof that you can legally work in Australia.

Probation

Any successful applicant will initially be appointed for a minimum six months probationary period.

Travel

Intra-state travel may be a requirement in this position from time to time.

Qualifications

A Certificate IV in an information management discipline (or related area), while not mandatory, would be highly regarded.
